| LandScan 2006 Global Population Dataset Now Available - Wednesday, April 23, 2008This dataset comprises a worldwide population database compiled on a 30” X 30” latitude/longitude grid. Census counts (at sub-national level) were apportioned to each grid cell based on likelihood coefficients, which are based on proximity to roads, slope, land cover, nighttime lights, and other information. Data is available on the GIS center's data drive.

| Water Resources Exhibit - Monday, March 31, 2008MIUS presents "water Resources" a look and water resources and hydrological data models. This exhibit highlights the Global Water for Sustainability Program and Caribbean Coastal Scenarios, along with a series of photography by FIU's own Priscilla Ferguson. The combination of scientific data and artwork create an exhibition that stresses the importance of water in our lives.

| ASK A LIBRARIAN Service Expanded! - Friday, February 22, 2008MIUS has expanded its "ASK A LIBRARIAN" service to now include a live chat option! You can use your AIM, Hotmail/MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Google TAlk, ICQ, or Meebo account to chat with fiumaps. This service is available Monday-Friday between 10am and 5pm.

| ESRI Virtual Campus Now Available - Friday, February 08, 2008ESRI Virtual Campus Courses are now available free of charge to FIU students, faculty and staff through our site license agreement. There are approximately 100 classes to choose from that cover a wide range of topics from ESRI software, the application of GIS, and the theory behind GIS technology. Courses take between 3-20 hourse to complete and once you have registered users have one full calendar year to complete them. There is no limit to the number of courses you can sign up for.
We are very excited about this and hope you will take advantage of this wonderful resource!

| National Transportation Atlas Databases 2007 is Now Available! - Tuesday, November 27, 2007National Transportation Atlas Databases 2007 is a set of nationwide geographic databases of transportation facilities, transportation networks, and associated infrastructure. These datasets include spatial information for transportation modal networks and intermodal terminals, as well as the related attribute information for these features. Metadata documentation, as prescribed by the Federal Geographic Data Committee, is also provided for each database. They are most useful at the national level, but have major applications at regional, state, and local scales throughout the transportation community.
